Zhongshan Hill Scenic Area

Zhongshan Hill Scenic Area is one of the 44 Scenic Areas promulgated by the State Council. It is situated on the north-eastern suburbs of Nanjing, As the mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, it is considered the Holy land of Chinese people both home and abroad. With deep historical significance, magnificent architecture and beautiful scenery, it is a must-see when traveling in Nanjing.

Linggu Temple

One of Nanjing's famous scenic spots, Linggu Temple, which claims to be 'the best Buddhist temple in the world', is situated to the east of Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum. The temple contains the Xuanzang Memorial Hall, which is built in memory of a famous monk in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The picture of the route that Xuanzang walked and the sutra he translated are also stored in the temple. There are also several other sights such as Non-beam Hall, Linggu Pagoda and Songfeng Pavilion.

Confucius Temple

The Confucius Temple in Nanjing was originally constructed in the year of 1034 in the Song Dynasty. It was a place to worship and consecrate Confucius, the great philosopher and educator of ancient China. This temple suffered repeated damage and has been rebuilt on several occasions since that time. During the long process, the original building expanded to be a complex building in the architectural style of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, including the Confucius Temple itself, the Jiangnan Gongyuan (the place of imperial examinations) and the Xue Gong (the Imperial Academy).
