| Title: Natural Interactive Entertainment | |
| Abstract: This talk will present some natural interactive technologies for digital entertainment. Natural interactive technologies utilise human senses, for instance, vision, speech, touch, feel, emotion, thoughts etc, allowing users to interact with virtual world. This provides a more intuitive, engaging, and natural experience for the user, especially for the game players. The natural interactive entertainment includes a lot of technologies. However, this talk will focus on the use of visual tracking, facial detection, motion detection, expression recognition, speech recognition, gesture recognition, etc as interfaces for the digital entertainment. And also, this talk is concerned with the development of human modelling and animation techniques to enhance the feeling of immersion of the player. Some examples of games with natural interfaces will be shown at the end of the talk. |

Biography: Dr. Yangsheng Wang was awarded his M.Sc in Information Technology and PhD in Computer Vision from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1989. He had been a senior academic visitor in Oxford of UK for one year since 1987, and moved to the department of Artificial Intelligence, Edinburgh University of UK as a postdoctoral fellow for another year. He had been a Senior Research fellow in Brunel University from 1990 to 1994 and then worked in Active Imaging Ltd of UK and Nortel Networks of UK from 1994 to 2000. He has been with Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Science of China as a professor since 2000, He currently serves as the director of Digital Interactive Media Lab, Chairman of Digital Entertainment Committee. Besides, he works as a part-time professor in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Communication University of China, Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications, and Beijing Jiaotong University as well. |
