Maiga Chang
Title: Virtual or Reality? Does Robots better for learning?
Abstract:
Currently, the robot technology becomes mature. There are many robots could be used for teaching and learning in the world. In this talk, we will talk about reasearches of robots in education and applications of educational robots and puppets. Moreover, this talk will give audience a future education vision about combining the benefits of both informaton communication technologies (ICT) and reality companions.


Biography:

Maiga Chang received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in information and computer engineering and the Ph. D degree in electronic engineering from Chung-Yuan Christian University, Chung Li, Taiwan, in 1996, 1998, and 2002, respectively. He is now an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing Information and Systems, Athabasca University, Athabasca, Alberta, Canada. His researches mainly focus on game-based learning, mobile learning and ubiquitous learning, museum e-learning, learning behavior analysis and data mining, intelligent agent technology, and computational intelligence in e-learning.
He has participated in 50 international conferences as a Program Committee Member and has authored more than 77 journal and international conference papers. He currently is a member of editorial board in several journals and also be the editorial board member for Athabasca University Press (AU Press). He had been the international program coordinator for National Science and Technology Program for e-Learning in Taiwan from 2003 to 2007. He has been a member of the International Who's Who of Professionals since 2000. In September 2004, he received the 2004 Young Researcher Award in Advanced Learning Technologies from the IEEE Technical Committee on Learning Technology (IEEE TCLT). He is a valued IEEE member for eleven years and also a member of ACM, AAAI, and INNS.
